Counting calories while eating might appear to be a redundant task, but it is a really significant aspect to maintain a healthy and balanced diet. With a myriad of opinions we receive, to lose weight and maintain a healthy living, we often tend to confuse with the truth and myth.
Here is a list of food that we should include in our diets to feel fuller faster without the intake of a lot of calories.
These items are not only good for weight loss but also increase the content of nutrients like fiber, vitamins, and minerals in our body.
Green veggies–
Apart from being an abundant source of iron, vitamin K, folic acid and fiber; green vegetables are exceptionally low in calorie content. Try to include fresh and flavorful vegetables like asparagus, spinach, lettuce, Brussel sprouts, zucchini, etc., in your regular diet. Along with the low-calorie content, these veggies also play a major role in enhancing our immune system. For example, Brussel sprouts prevent Cancer, which is a highly common fatal disease.
Cruciferous vegetables–
This category of veggies includes cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower. These simple vegetables are crunchy and refreshing in flavors and tend to provide us with a feeling of fullness. A bowl of cauliflower is packed up with a plethora of nutrients including several phytonutrients that fight off cancer.
Coffee–
While most of us associate coffee with its ill-effects, this drink can be a boon for people with a low rate of metabolism. Regular coffee intake helps in lowering the risk of liver and colon cancer, diabetes and obesity. Also, coffee drinkers tend to have a higher rate of metabolism, lower BMI and low level of body fat percentage.
Food rich in Vitamin C-
Fruits and vegetables like tomatoes, grapefruits, berries, oranges, lemons, and limes have very low-calorie content and are great allies for people who want to lose weight. These food items are rich in fiber and hence, their regular intake helps in lowering our body mass index as well.
Aromatics-
Garlic and onion are a very common form of aromatics that are included in our diets all across the globe. While garlic is known to fight cold, urinary tract infections and even fight cancers; onions are also a rich source of such nutrients. Their strong and pungent flavors are often disliked by many, but they should undoubtedly be an integral part of our diets.
Peppers-
The hotter the better, the lower is the calorie intake! Including peppers in your diet is well known to aid you in weight loss and reduce the amount of calorie you gorge on. Peppers are also rich in Vitamin C and flavors content, which just adds on to their benefits. So the bottom line is, opt for as much chilly in your diet as you can.
Herbal teas-
Herbal teas are a huge hit in the market these days. With a plethora of flavors and varieties available; we can surely have a tough time picking our favorite. Some major teas that are considered a boon for weight loss are black, green, white or oolong. Teas are rich in antioxidants namely polyphenols, which help our cells from any kind of damage. They also help in lowering bad cholesterol and ward off various diseases like cancer and osteoporosis.
This list of low-calorie food items can serve as a starter for all those who are looking for some weight loss tips.
These items should be included in our routine diets and should be always taken in limited quantities, as an excess of anything may cause damage to our bodies.
