The fall is a time for picking apples and pumpkins, wearing chunky sweaters and treating yourself! As females, often times we put self-care on the back burner. We sometimes have a tendency to put everyone else’s needs before our own, causing us to feel run down or burnt out.
It has come to my attention that October 13 was Treat Yo Self Day, and in light, we want to share with you a few ways in which you can make the most of this holiday all fall long! Below we’re highlighting a few tips on how you can practice self-care, whether you’re a busy mom, career woman, or just a lady who is in need of some TLC.
Invest in Your Exterior
Let’s face it, we all feel a little bit better on the inside when we KNOW we look good on the outside. Buying yourself a new pair of jeans that fit just right or a piece of jewelry that makes you feel like a million bucks will not only look great but also help improve your self-esteem. Being comfortable in your own skin is crucial and shelling out a little extra to get there shouldn’t make you feel guilty! In addition to giving your closet a makeover, why not give your beauty routine a little transformation as well? Did you know that similar to the food in your refrigerator, your makeup also has an expiration date? This is why it is important to throw away older beauty products and replace them with new depending on the individual product’s shelf life. While we’re on the subject of beauty, are you starting to notice some wrinkles in places you don’t want them to be? If so, it could be time to invest in a prescription based anti-aging product, formulated to smooth
fine lines and erase dark spots. Taking these small steps can make a huge difference and positively impact how you look and feel!
Test Out a New Recipe
This season, you’ll find that store shelves everywhere are packed with tons of tasty fall-themed treats, but why not use the ingredients fall has to offer and make something from scratch?
Whether it’s baking a salted caramel apple pie like this one, or trying your hand at a savory pumpkin ravioli, you can’t go wrong with the comforting flavors of fall. Experimenting with new recipes is also the perfect excuse to spend a cozy night in! Whether it be with your significant other, your kids, or your best girl friends, cooking helps bring people together. After you eat, you can curl up on the couch and watch one of the many spooky movies this season has to offer!
Go on an Adventure
In many areas, fall can be considered one of nature’s most beautiful seasons. The various colors from the changing leaves make fall the perfect time to go on an adventure. Whether it’s a quick day trip or a weekend away, carving out some time in your schedule to enjoy the season
is a great way to treat yourself! If you live close by to an apple orchard, gather your family or grab some friends and head out to pick your own apples. The scenery can make for some social-media worthy photos and you’ll have apples to eat all winter long! Sounds like a win/win
right? If you’re feeling super adventurous, pack a bag and spend a night or two away exploring a new city, you may be surprised at what you find! Some areas offer train rides through the mountains in order to view the various fall foliage. Other towns even allow you to bicycle through the trails and view nature up close. Being one with nature can do the soul some good,
so if you have an opportunity to get out this fall, don’t hesitate!
While October 13 has been dubbed Treat Yo’self Day, you certainly don’t need to limit spoiling yourself to a 24 hour period! I have shared with you just a few ways in which you can show yourself some love and make the most of the fall season but the opportunities are certainly
endless! Whether it’s by yourself, with a group of friends or your significant other, there’s never a bad time to #treatyoself!
