HOW TO STOP YOUR EYES BEING SORE, RED OR ITCHY

Are you dealing with sore, red or itchy eyes? Well, you are not alone. Most of us, at some time in our lives, have shared our encounters with itchy eyes. Causes of developing soreness and redness are many, ranging from air pollution to make up allergies to bacterial infections such as blepharitis.

In this article, we have shared with you some of the most wonderful ways to stop your eyes being sore and itchy. These ideas are incredibly handy, should you ever need them.

1. Cucumbers

Cold cucumbers are the best when it comes to stopping your eyes from itching. Take a small to medium sized cucumber and cut it into thin slices. Now place the cucumber slices in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Then lie down on your back, place a slice of cucumber over each eye. Stay lying down with closed eyes for about 30 minutes. Just relax. Give your eyes some rest.
Cucumbers will undeniably help to reduce the itchiness and redness caused in your eyes.

2. Cold milk

Cold milk too plays a pivotal role in stopping eyes being itchy and sore. Take some cold milk, pour it into the glass. Now take two cotton balls and soak them in the cold milk. Remove the soaked cotton ball and dab them on the eyes. If you have some free time, then lay down and let the milk-soaked cotton ball stay over your closed eyes for about 10-15 minutes. Follow this remedy every night before going to bed.

3. Teabags

In order to reduce redness, place a moist green or black tea bag on the affected eye for a few minutes. Since tea contains powerful bioflavonoids that help to combat viral and bacterial infections, it does a fabulous job to reduce inflammation. Besides, the tannic acid will also help in soothing the itchiness.

4. Saltwater

It is a good idea to rinse your eyes with salt-water. If your eyes are painfully itchy and sore, ensure that you use the salt -water solution on a regular basis. This anti-bacterial salt-water solution will wash away and kill germs and bacteria that are collected in the inside corner of the eyes.
Take a cup of distilled water, boil it and add a teaspoon of salt until you see the salt completely dissolves. Once the water is boiled, pour the liquid into a cup and allow the water to cool down. Now apply the cool water to your eyes. Repeat this process several times a day to relieve the itchiness.

5. Fenugreek seeds

Fenugreek is a fantastic herb when it comes to treating itchy and sore eyes. For this remedy to work, you will need to soak fenugreek seeds in cold water for at least 8 hours. Then mix the seeds well enough to form a paste. Now close your eyes, and apply the paste to the eyes for 15 minutes each. After 10 minutes or so, rinse off the eyes using cold water.

6. Vegetable juices

You can never go wrong with vegetables. Vegetable juices help to relieve the symptoms of sore, red and itchy eyes. Extract juice from fresh vegetables such as carrots and spinach. Drink this fresh juice regularly to see noticeable results in the health of your eyes. It is advisable to drink fresh juice twice a day. Since there are no known negative results of drinking vegetable juice on a daily basis, feel free to drink the juice even when your eyes get better.

7. Raw and chilled potatoes

Take a clean raw medium-sized potato, remove the skin, and wash it with cold water. Now cut the potato into thin slices and place them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Then lie down on your back and allow the chilled potato slices to sit on your eyes for about 20 minutes or so. Follow this remedy for four nights before going to bed. Doing this will help to reduce redness in your eyes.

8. Milk and honey

This is a wonderful combination to stop the soreness and redness in the eyes. Make an eyewash with honey and warm (not boiling) milk. Stir the mixture until the honey becomes smooth. Now using an eye dropper drop 2-3 drops into the eyes a few times in a day. Thanks to the anti-bacterial properties found in honey and the calming effects of the milk, this remedy will begin to work almost instantly. Give it a try. Also, ensure that your utensils in which you stir the mixture are fully sanitized before you begin the process.

9. Drink plenty of water

It is important to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water every day. Water helps in keeping our eyes healthy. Not only does regular drinking of water help in keeping the symptoms of dry eyes at bay, but also help in reducing the redness in the eyes.
Drink adequate amount of water.
